עמי, עָמֶה (cmp. עמם) to be dark, dim, faint. Tanḥ. Yithro 13 קולו ע׳ וכהה the sound he produces becomes fainter and duller (the longer he blows); Yalk. Ex. 284 קולו ע׳, opp. מגביה.
    Hif. - הֶעֱמָה to become faint. Tanḥ. Haăz. 7 (play on ע̇מ̇יאל בן ג̇מ̇ל̇י, Num. XIII, 12) הע̇מ̇ה כחו … וג̇מ̇ל̇ וכ׳ his strength failed him, because he said …, and he brought it upon himself that he did not enter Palestine.
