*סַסְמָגוֹר, (supposed to be a comp. of סָס a. מגיר, cmp. מְגֵרָה) [a sawing worm,] name of a species of cedar subject to decay. Yoma 9ᵇ [read:] מאי ארז שהרקב שולט בו ס׳ … what is the cedar over which decay has power?… Sasmagor (Ms. L. omits our w., and has only the explanation of it: ארז מגור מן הסס, v. סָס; v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 200). [To the following מאי ס׳ what is S.?, the reply ארז מגור מן הסס has obviously fallen out, whereas the subsequent אמר ר׳ אבא בת קול resumes the discussion interrupted by מאי ארז וכ׳;—different in comment.]
