נִפְחָא, ch. = h. נֶפֶח. B. Mets. 80ᵃ (expl. קשה כמשאוי, v. נֶפֶח) נ׳ כי תקלא וכ׳ the volume of the load is like the weight, i.e. loads of the same volume are considered of the same weight as regards the stress on the animal, and if he added three Kab to the volume bargained for, he is responsible for any injury to the ass; ib. (expl. קשה למשאוי) תקלא … ונ׳ הוי וכ׳ weight is weight, and the volume is an addition, i.e. if he changed the load for a more voluminous one although of the same weight, he is responsible for the additional volume.
