נִיקּוּף ², (נָקַף II) crown, rim.—זיתי נ׳ (cmp. פֵּאָה; v. Is. XVII, 6) the olives left on the tree for the poor, the poor man’s share, gleaning, opp. to זיתי מָסִיק. Ḥall. III, 9. Peah VIII, 3. Yib. 20ᵈ bot. מקום שנהגו … ז׳ נ׳ וכ׳ where the custom prevails to take down the gleanings (instead of leaving them on the trees), the poor man may say, this oil is from gleanings; a. e.—[Comment. זיתי נ׳ olives which are knocked down, v. preced.]
