מַעַרְכִים, constr. מַעַרְכֵי (b. h.; arrangements, ordinances, esp. מ׳ (כהן) מלחמה the regulations concerning excuses from the army to be proclaimed before battle (Deut. XX, 5—9). Tosef. Sot. VII, 18 on arriving at the frontier he says, מי ששומע ילך לשמוע מ׳ כהן מלחמה let him who hears (this) go to hear the proclamation of the priest of war (v. מָשׁוּחַ); במ׳ מלחמה מהו אומר what is said in the proclamation before the battle? Sot. 42ᵇ top שמעו דברי מ׳ מלחמה listen to the words of the proclamation. Ib.
