Vayishl. 3 (ref. to Prov. XXV, 26) כשמָט לפני וכ׳ when he bends (humiliates himself) before the wicked; Gen. R. s. 75 א"א לצדיק לָמוּט וכ׳ (Yalk. Gen. 130 לִימּוֹט) it is impossible to the righteous to bend &c.; a. e.

    Hif. - הֵמִיט to bend, to shake. Zab. III, 3 כל שאינה יכולה להָמִיט באדם (not בה אדם) (Asheri להָסִיט, v. סוּט) a ship which has no staggering effect on man. Gen. R. l. c. מֵמִיט עצמו וכ׳ humbles himself.
