  1. מְהַל I, same. Yeb. 71ᵇ ובמדבר מ"ט לא מָהוּל and why did they not practice circumcision in the desert? Ib. 72ᵃ לא מַהֲלִינָן ביה we do not perform the operation on it (a cloudy day &c.). Sabb. 134ᵃ ולִימְהֲלֵיה Ms. M. (ed. ולִימְהֲלוּהָ, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note) and then one (they) shall circumcise him. Ib. 136ᵃ מִימְהַל היכי מַהֲלִינָן ליה how dare we circumcise him (on the Sabbath)? Ib. נִימְהֲלֵיה ממ"נ let us circumcise him at all events (v. מָה h.); a. fr.—Part. מָהֵיל. Ib.; a. fr.
  2. מְהַל I, (neut. verb) to be circumcised. Snh. 39ᵃ אנן דמהלינן וכ׳ we who are circumcised cannot become like you; אתון מַהֲלִיתוּ וכ׳ (Ms. M. מיהלן, read מְהִילוּ) have yourselves circumcised and be like us.
