ל, Lamed, the twelfth letter of the Alphabet. It interchanges with the liquids, e. g. שַׁלְשֶׁלֶת a. שַׁרְשֶׁרֶת; נִדְנָה a. לִדְנָה &c.—ל as first radical letter often rejected in inflection, e. g. לָקַח, קַח, קִיחָה &c.
