כִּיוָּן
  1. כִּיוָּן, (כּוּן) [firmness, directness, fitness;]
  2. כִּיוָּן, (adv.) directly, exactly. Pes. 37ᵃ אפשר … ויקבענה כ׳ he may form the dough in a mould and attach it to the cake directly (well fitting, without loss of time). Tam. III, 6 אחד … ואחד פותח כ׳ (with one key) a priest puts his hand through an opening in the door (v. אַמָּה), and another priest opens (with the other key) directly; (Talm. ed. 30ᵇ ואחד שהוא פותח כ׳ and another key which opens directly).
  3. כִּיוָּן, (conj. followed by ש־) as soon as, since. Macc. 3ᵃ, a. fr. כ׳ שהגיד וכ׳ as soon as a witness has finished his evidence, he is not permitted to testify again (retract or modify). Keth. 11ᵃ כ׳ שהגדילה וכ׳ as soon as she was of age for one while without protesting &c. Erub. 93ᵇ כ׳ שהותרה הותרה being once permitted (for one part of the Sabbath), it remains permitted; a. v. fr.
