*כֶּבֶס, m. (preced.) cleansing material.—Pl. כְּבָסִים. Y’lamd. to Num. XXVIII, 3 quot. in Ar. s. v. כבשים (ref. to כבשים, ib.) אע"פ שכתוב כבשים אנו קורין כ׳ וכ׳ though it is written K’basim (with Sin, sheep), we read K’basim (with Sammekh), for they cleanse Israel’s sins.
