חֲלוּדָה, rust, mould. Kel. XIII, 5 העלתה ה׳ became rusty; Tosef. Kel. B. Mets. III, 10; a. fr.—Trnsf. sin. Tanḥ. Ki Thabo 2 (ref. to חלד Ps. XVII, 14) [read:] אמרו זה לזה ח׳ הם מלאין חטאין יש בידן (v. Tanḥ. ed. Bub. ib. 4) they (the gentiles) say to one another, they (the Israelites) are full of rust, there are sins in their hands.
חֲלוּדָה, a skin disease arising from living in caves. Midr. Till. to Ps. XVII, 14 (v. supra) אלו שהעלה גופן ח׳ they are those (persecuted Jews) whose bodies became afflicted with sores, &c.; Y. Shebi. IX, 38ᵈ; Gen. R. s. 79.—Pl. חֲלוּדוֹת. Pesik. B’shall., p. 88ᵇ; Esth. R. to I, 9 חֲלוּדָאוֹת (some ed. חלדואות, corr. acc.).
