  2. חִירָה, מה ח׳ וכ׳ what was the nature of these rocks?—They were not slanting but abrupt &c. Ib. הח׳ מצד וכ׳ the rocks were on one side, and Migdol &c. Ib. איו ח׳ אלא מקום חֵירוּתָן וכ׳ ḥiroth means the place of Israel’s liberty (licentiousness); Yalk. Ex. 230; Num. R. s. 20.
