חֲזָזִית, (חזז to make incisions) lichen, a cutaneous disease connected with desquamation and sometimes ulceration. Bekh. VI, 12 בעל ח׳ an animal afflicted with lichen. Ib. 41ᵃ (expl. ילפת, Lev. XXII, 22) ח׳ המצרית Egyptian lichen; ח׳ דעלמא ordinary lichen.—Succ. III, 6 (34ᵇ) עלתה ח׳ if an Ethrog is covered with lichen (scabs).
