חוּשׁ, to feel, suffer, be troubled. Targ. Ps. LXXIII, 21. Targ. Prov. XXVI, 10; a. e.—Sabb. 140ᵃ חש ביוקרא דלבא suffered with heaviness of the heart.—Ib. וחֲשָׁאִי בנפשאי וכ׳ Ar. (ed. וחֲשִׁי, Ms. P. וחשי בי, fr. חֲשָׁא, חֲשִׁי) and I felt the cooling effect from the hair &c.
חוּשׁ, to apprehend, care for. Targ. Y. Num. XII, 3; a. e.—Y. Ber. VI, 10ᵇ bot. הואיל וחש לה … מֵיחוּשׁ since R. Z. cared to do it, we must do likewise. Pes. 84ᵃ; Yoma 46ᵃ, a. e. לא (חייש) חש לקימחיה cares not what flour he grinds (what argument he offers). Keth. 21ᵃ וחש … לב"ד טועין and S. took into consideration that a court might have a mistaken opinion (and was more explicit in his document than the law required); Yeb. 106ᵃ דחַיְישִׁינָן וכ׳ for we must take into consideration &c.; B.
