הִילּוּלָא, הִלּוּלָא, esp. praising the bride in dancing before her (v. Ps. LXXVIII, 63; Keth. 17ᵃ), in gen. wedding. Targ. Koh. III, 4; a. e.—Ber. 31ᵃ; a. fr.—Snh. 105ᵃ (prov.) when mouse and cat עבדי ה׳ מבישרא וכ׳ Ms. M. (ed. מתרבא) make a wedding feast, it is from the flesh (fat) of an unlucky (victim).—בי ה׳ wedding house, feast. Ber. 6ᵇ אגרא דבי ה׳ מילי (Var. הִלּוּלֵי pl.) the meritorious act in attending a wedding consists in words (cheering songs, addresses &c.); a. e.—Pl. הִילּוּלֵי, הִלּ׳. M.
