הוֹשָׁטָה, (יָשַׁט) reaching over, handing over, opp. הוֹלָכָה q. v.—Y. Sabb. VII, 10ᵈ ולמה לא תנינן ה׳ עמהון why is not reaching an object over (from one territory to another) counted among the labors forbidden on the Sabbath? Zeb. 14ᵃ כדי הוֹשָׁטַת ידו as far as one may reach over with his hand (without moving from his place).
