*גִּתִּית, (denom. of preced.) woman engaged in the wine press, wine treader.—Pl. גִּתִּיּוֹת, גִּיתִּ׳. Gen. R. s. 71 [read:] אף הג׳ מאחורי הקוריים וכ׳ even the wine-treaders behind the beam handlers (of loose character) maligned her. Esth. R. to I, 10 (play on א̇ב̇ג̇ת̇א) א̇ב̇יא ג̇ית̇' מא׳ ק׳ I shall bring the wine treaders &c. (to deride her).
