גָּפַס, (v. גפף) to make air-tight, to paste with gypsum, clay &c. Kel. X, 5 שגְּפָסָן עם וכ׳ Ar. a. R. H. G. (ed. שגְּפָתָן); Tosef. Kel. B. Kam. VII, 7 שגפסן (Var. שגפת׳, R. S. to Kel. l. c. שגְּפָפָן) which one closed up by connecting the paste with the rim (leaving an empty space between the cover and the body of the vessel).
