(interchanging with אָגֵין).—Sot. 21ᵃ אגּוּנֵי מַגְּנָא does protect, contrad. fr. אצולי to rescue. Keth. 77ᵇ אגוני לא מגנא will it (the Law) not protect (me)? Ab. Zar. 15ᵇ bot. מגנו עלייהו they (the bucklers) protect them. Ib. 16ᵃ מגנו עילוון they (the Persian soldiers) protect us.
