גְּנִיזָה, (גנז) removal of sacred objects. Sabb. XVI, 1 טעונים ג׳ must be removed (in case of their being unfit for use). Meg. 26ᵇ זו היא גְנִיזָתָן this (their use for shrouds) is their removal.—[Pes. 118ᵇ בית גניזה, v. גֵּנֶז).
