אַפּוּכִי, (אפך, הפך, cmp. חליפין) return, exchange, equivalent, settlement (cmp. esp. Targ. Prov. XXIV, 29, a. P. Sm. s. v. הפך). Lev. R. s. 34, end א׳ דידה הן היא (Yalk. Lev. 665 אִיפּוּכִין, pl.) where is the equivalent for the money spent? Ib. and of all those (praised for their deeds with ashré) לא נטל א׳ אלא זה (Yal. l. c. איפוכין) none received the promise of an equivalent except this (Ps. XLI, 2). Gen. R. s. 42 on the day of the destruction of Jerusalem נטלו ישראל אפכי Ar. (ed. אופכי) Israel received full payment for all their sins (ref. to Lam. IV, 22). Ib. א׳ גדולה ample, general settlement; Lam.
