  1. אִסְקוּפָה, (סקף, cmp. b. h. מַשְׁקוֹף a. זקף) cross-piece;
  2. אִסְקוּפָה, yard of a ship. Tosef. B. Bath. IV, 1 ed. Zuck. (Var. אִיזְקָפָה); Y. ib. V, beg. 15ᵃ in selling a vessel one has not implicitly sold את הא׳ the yard (because it is taken down when on land; v. Sm. Ant. s. v. Antenna). Midr. Till. to Ps. CIII (the embryo in the womb) כאדם שנתון באסקופת וכ׳ (some ed. בספינה, read באִסְקוּפַת הספינה) like a person seated on the yard on open Sea.
  3. אִסְקוּפָה, lintel, threshold, gen. lower door-sill. Sabb. 6ᵃ; a. fr.; cmp. Y. Ber. V, 37ᵃ, expl. סַף. Y. Snh. VI, 23ᵇ bot. עשה אותי (כ)א׳ make me the threshold for the Law to pass over me; i.e. let the law have its course at the expense of my life; Yalk. Ps. 688 עשה אסקופא (corr. acc.).
