אִדַּר, (אדר, נדר v. אָדַר) a place cut off, circle (cmp. זִירָה), whence threshing place, barn; also the grain piled up in the barn for threshing; cmp. גּוֹרֶן. Targ. Hos. II, 11 בעידן א׳ at the season of its being piled up; a. fr.—Gen. R. s. 63 the shovel דאפיך אי׳ which upturns the grain in the barn (= prayer averting evil decrees). Ib. (play on אדרת Gen. XXV, 25) כקש מא׳ like chaff from the barn. Ruth R. to III, 3 להיכן אקימתא א׳ where didst thou put up the barn?—Pl. אִידְּרַיָּא, אִדְּרֵי &c. Dan. II, 35. Targ. I Sam. XXIII, 1; a. e. Cant.
