סְתַם סְתַם ch. same. Targ. II Chr. XXXII, 3. Targ. II Esth. I, 2 (3) ס׳ נפשיה (the gate) closed itself; a. fr.—Part. pass. סְתִים; f. סְתִימָא; pl. סְתִימִין, סְתִימַיָּא; סְתִימָן. Targ. Ez. XLI, 16. Targ. Y. I Gen. XLIX, 1; a. e.—Ḥull. 49ᵇ חד סָתֵים one of them stops up a perforation (by close adhesion, v. preced.). Ib. sq. אינהו … ולדידן מִיסְתַּם נמי לא ס׳ they eat (that kind of fat), and for us was it not even to have the effect of closing up the perforation (that the animal in the case be permitted)?; a. fr.—Esp. to conceal an authority; to state a law without naming the author.
