יִתְרָא, יִי׳ I m. ch. = h. יֶתֶר I , 1, strong cord, esp. 1) the cord of the bow. Snh. 42ᵃ למיהוי כי י׳ (some ed. יְתֵירָא) until the shape of the moon is like that of the cord (with the bent bow, semicircular).—Pl. (יְתֵירֵי) יִתְיֵי. M. Kat. 26ᵃ לקל י׳ דמזיגת וכ׳ from the sound of the cords (of the catapults) at M. (v. מְגִיזָה) the wall of Laodicea burst. —2) rope.—Pl. יְתָרִין, יְתָרַיָּא. Targ. Jud.
