חֲבַב ch., Pa. חַבֵּיב same, 1) to love, honor. Targ. Prov. IV, 8 חַבִּבְיָהּ honor her. Targ. O. Deut. XXXIII, 3; a. fr. —2) to make beloved. Targ. Y. ib.—Sabb. 130ᵃ is it משום חַבּוּבֵי מצוה (Rashi חִיבּוּב) in order to show the high appreciation of the ceremony (of circumcision)?—Ib. אלא לחַבּיּבֵי (Ms. M. לחַבֵּב). Ḥull. 133ᵃ חבובי קא מְחַבֵּב וכ׳ does he (by taking hastily) prove his anxiety for the divine command, or &c.?
    Ithpa. - אִיתְחַבֵּיב to be tied together (in affection). Targ. I Sam. XVIII, 1 (h. text נקשרה).
