שׁוּמְשׁוּם שׁוּמְשׁוּם, (prob. fr. שֶׁמֶשׁ) [sun-flower,] sesamum, sesame (Assyr. šamaššamu). T’bul Yom I, 5 ed. Dehr. (ed. שֻׁמְשׁוּם). R. Hash. 13ᵃ; Men. 103ᵇ כביצה חסר ש׳ the size of an egg less that of a sesame seed. Ib. 16ᵇ הקטיר ש׳ לאכול ש׳ if he burnt (the handful of the offering), the size of a sesame grain at a time, or with the intention to eat (the remainder), a sesame grain at a time; a. e.—Mostly pl. שׁוּמְשְׁמִים, שׁוּמְשְׁמִין.
