רַמְשִׁית, adv. (preced.) last night (= h. אֶמֶשׁ). Y. Ned. VIII, beg. 40ᵈ לית … ברומשא לא טעמית כלום ר׳ וכ׳ a man does not say to his neighbor in the evening, I did not taste anything ramshith (meaning the night before), but he would say, ethmol (yesternight, which would prove that in popular conception the day begins with the night); לית … בצפרא לא טעמית כלום ר׳ וכ׳ (on the other hand) does not a man say to his neighbor in the morring, I did not taste anything rumshith (last night)? does this mean to say, it is this day, i.e. does he not indicate that he does not count the day from the evening? Y. Snh. VIII, 26ᵇ top עם מאן דקדש … ר׳ with him who inaugurated the new month here last night.
