Sot. 5ᵃ (play on בֹשרֹ) ב̇ושה סֹרוחה ר̇ basar (flesh) suggests ‘shame’, ‘putrefied’, ‘worm’. B. Mets. 83ᵇ אין ר׳ ותולעה וכ׳ no worm of any kind shall have power over you. Ab. IV, 4 תקות אנוש ר׳ the prospects of man are worms. Koh. R. to V, 10 הרי הוא לר׳ ותולעה he is (food) for worms; a. fr.—Pesik. Vayhi, p. 93ᵇ (in Chald. dict.) דהדין גופא אזל לר׳ that this (my) body must go to the worms; Koh. R. to XI, 2 לאדמה (corr. acc.); ib. ברם ר׳ לית וכ׳ but worms shall have no power over me except &c.
