רָבִיעַ m. (v. רְבִיעִי) 1) one fourth; 2) square. Tosef. Sot. V, 13; Erub. 56ᵇ מגרש ר׳ the pasture ground of Levitic townships was one-fourth of the area; Y. Sot. V, 20ᵇ bot. ר׳ מגרש. Ib. ר׳ מאלף it means a square of one thousand cubits; אפי׳ תימא ר׳ מכל צד ר׳ חוא even if you say that it means ‘square’, at all events it is one-fourth of the area. Gitt. V, 6 נותן … ר׳, v. סִיקָרִיקוֹן. Ib. 58ᵇ ר׳ בקרקע או ר׳ וכ׳ one-fourth of the property bought, or one-fourth of the purchase price. Y. Pes.
