פִּיתָּק פִּיתָּק, (פָּתַק; v. פִּיטֵּק) ball, stone, tablet, ballot; lot, decree. Tanḥ. B’haʿăl. 12 כל מי שהיה עולה בידו פ׳ כתוב וכ׳ he who drew a ballot on which ‘elder’ was written. Tanḥ. B’midb. 21 אם עלה בידו פ׳ כתוב וכ׳ if he drew a ballot on which ‘Levi’ was written, he knew that a Levite had redeemed him. Num. R. s. 4 [read:] מי אומר לך שאם היה שם פי׳ של לוי שלא וכ׳ who tells thee that I should not have drawn it, had there been a ballot inscribed ‘Levi’ in the box? Ib. פ׳ כתב וכ׳ (read כתוב) a ballot inscribed &c. Sot. 12ᵃ לא היו בפִיתְקָהּ של חוה they were not included in the decree pronounced on Eve (Gen. III, 16). Snh. 102ᵃ (ref. to I Kings XI, 29) יצא מפיתקה של ירושלים (Rashi מפִּתְקָהּ) he went out of the destiny of Jerusalem (i.e. was to have no share in the welfare of Jerusalem); a. fr.—Pl. פְּתָקִים, פְּתָקִין (Chald. form) פִּיתְקִין. Esth. R. to I, 2; v. דָּדָה. Gen. R. s. 91 לערב הביאו לו את הפ׳ in the evening they brought him the tablets (on which every traveller had written his name). Num.
