R. s. 30 דהוה … פ׳ ודרשן he was teacher of Bible and of Mishnah, speaker (poet) and preacher; Pesik. U’kaḥ., p. 179ᵃ (Ar. ed. Koh. פּוֹיְיטָן, oth. ed. פייטם, פייטס, corr. acc.); Cant. R. to III, 6 פייטויי (corr. acc.). Ib. to I, 1 הדין פ׳ כד עביד וכ׳ when a poet writes &c., v. אלפ"א; Koh. R. to I, 13 פּוֹיְיטָנָא.—Pl. (h.) פַּיְיטָנִים. Yalk. Cant. 983 (ref. to חרוזים, Cant. I, 10) אלו הפ׳ this refers to the poets (in Israel).
