עָרוֹד II, wild ass. Kil. VIII, 6 ע׳ מין חיה the ʿarod belongs to the class of beasts of chase (v. חַיָּה I). R. Hash. 3ᵃ (play on ערד, Num. XXI, 1) שדומה לע׳ במדבר for he (Sihon) was like a wild ass in the desert; a. e.—Pl. עֲרוֹדוֹת. Y. Shek. VIII, beg. 51ᵃ ע׳ היו נוחרין (לאריות) וכ׳ (v. Rabb. D.
