סִיּוּעַ, (סִיעַ) help, assistance. Y. Sabb. XVIII, end, 16ᶜ (ref. to מסעדין, Mish. Sabb. XVIII, 3) אי זהו הס׳ wherein does the assistance (rendered to travailing animals) consist? Lev. R. s. 24 ומה אם הרוחות … לשום ס׳ צריכין ס׳ אנו שנבראנו לס׳ וכ׳ when the spirits that are not made dependent on assistance, require assistance, how much more do we (human beings) who are made dependent on assistance &c. Ib. (ref. to עזרך … יסעדך, Ps. XX, 3) עזרה וס׳ וכ׳ help and assistance come from Zion. Esth. R. to I, 1 וכי לסִיּוּעָן של וכ׳ does the Lord need the assistance of the nations?—Ex.
