*מַחֲבוֹאָה II, pl. מַחֲבוֹאִים m. (homiletic transpos. of מבח׳, as if from נָבַח) bursting forth, idle talk. Men. 63ᵃ (play on מַחֲבַת) דאתיא אמַחֲבוֹאֵי הפה it atones for the outbursts of the mouth, כדאמרי אינשי מְנַבַּח נַבּוּחֵי (Ar. ed. Koh. s. v. חב 2: קא מבחבוחי, prob. to be read קא מַבַּח נַבּוּחֵי) as people say ‘he blabs’. [Our w. seems to be a corrupt. for מַבּוּחֵי, formed like מַבּוּעַ, fr. נבח.]
