*טִיכּוּס, (טָכַס) [stamping,] rampart, earth-dam. Pesik. R. s. 14 the sand stands before the Ocean כט׳ וכחומה like a dam and a wall (cmp. טִיכְסָא). [It is not likely that our w. is the Greek τεῖχος, which is identical in meaning with חומה.]
