גְּדִידָה f. (גָּדַד I Hithpa.) 1) incision in the flesh, wounding. Kidd. 35ᵇ או אינו אלא (אף) לג׳ perhaps the exemption of females (intimated by בנים Deut. XIV, 1) refers (also) to the law forbidding incisions? Ib. שריטה וג׳ אחת היא s’ritah and g’didah are legally the same. Macc. 21ᵃ שריטה ביד וג׳ בכלי s’ritah is done with the hand (nails), g’didah with an instrument. —2) cutting dates, v. גְּדִירָה.
