בֵּירוּר, בֵּרוּר m. (ברר) 1) clearness, correct sense. Yalk. Ps. 658 ב׳ של הלכה (cmp. בּוֹרִי) the true sense of the law. —2) Pl. בֵּירוּרִין, בֵּר׳ arbitration. B. Mets. I, 8, a. e. שטרי ב׳ documents referring to the choice of arbiters, v. קוֹמְפְּרוֹמִיסִין; [anoth. opin. ib. 20ᵃ שטרי טענתא records of evidences, minutes of court proceedings]. —3) בֵּרוּרֵי המדות exact account of wine measures, whence, the surplus in the shopkeeper’s wine account arising from measuring quickly and not allowing the wine to settle in the measures.
