אוֹטֶם m. (אטם) 1) obstruction; something closed, plugged up. Ḥull. 47ᵇ א׳ בריאה Ar. (ed. אָטוּם) an obstruction in the lungs, a spot imperviable to air when blown up. Ohol. VI, 5 we regard the levitical uncleanness between the rafters כאילו הוא א׳ as if it was locked up (and could not affect what is in the house). —2) substructure (filled with earth), foundation. Mid.
